Helga Kristmundsdóttir er født og opvokset på Island, men bor i dag på Djursland. Gennem ekspressive landskabsmalerier med bræerne, de brusende floder, klippeformationerne, lavamarkerne og den tunge himmel fornemmer man den storladne natur som hun maler.
Helga Kristmundsdóttir er kommet på afstand af den barske atlanterhavsø, og hun kan gang på gang gendigte det rå islandske landskab i nye forunderlige og fængslende kompositioner i sine malerier.
Landskaberne får yderligere mæle i kraft af deres inciterende farvevalg, hvor paletten spiller i naturfarver-, jordfarver og videre over blåt isprængt rødt og hvidt for ikke at tale om en lysende gul farve. Hermed sætter alle farverne hinanden i relief. Det er naturinspirerede malerier uden direkte at være naturalistiske.

Visual artist, Art historian and curator. He focuses on conceptual and interactive process as aesthetic
elements in the artwork. He works with multimedia, as photography, video, painting, text,
installation, painting and performance. He works also as an art educator and advisor, and holds
workshops and lectures.

Born in Tawra, Iraq and lives and works in Denmark since 1993. He is educated from the Academy
of Fine Arts, University of Baghdad and he has also been awarded the degree of Master in Arts in Art
History from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and University of Copenhagen.

His work has been shown in Denmark and many European countries like:

I´m an black-and-white artist and a painter. I´m working very much with portrait and landscape.
Landscapes with the wide open spaces I prefer. I have many times travelled in Iceland and The Faroe Islands - and the Westcoast in Denmark. But especiel Iceland. There the landscape is very different and with much power. There it can be very quiet and with long distance out in the world, it´s a place, where thoughts and poetry can appear. I feel it empty and full at the same time.
